Dear Family and Friends -
I hope you are each having a wonderful summer - full of laughter, love, work and play including memories to treasure for a lifetime. We have had some wonderful adventures during this summer. We are grateful for the opportunities that have presented themselves for us as well as for the children.
This past weekend, however, has thrown us for a loop and we are coming to you for your assistance. On Sunday morning, our horse Harley had somehow gotten out of the pasture. She made her way to the highway where she was struck by a woman on her way to work at 5:30 that morning. Harley was hit right at the knees which made her buckle and fly through the front window and over the top of the car. It's a miracle the woman wasn't paralyzed let alone killed. The car is a mangled mess. Jed went over right away to see how she was doing at the Payson Hospital and then went to UVRMC when she was transferred to get details. Thankfully, he found the woman's mother who willing spoke to Jed about her daughter's condition. She has awful, awful injuries which include a broken neck, back and has broken her face in many places. They, literally, had to sew the top of her head back together - over 250 stitches. As Jed and this woman spoke, she invited him to go see her daughter. When they got to her room, she looked to Jed and pleaded for him to please give her a blessing. Can you imagine? Jed said that this mother reminded him of his own mother with her kindness and compassion. A nurse came in asking about who was in the room and when the nurse asked about Jed, the mother said with tears in her eyes, "This is a very dear friend". As they visited, the mother told Jed a little bit about the daughter. She is a 42 yr old single mother of an 11 yr old autistic son. About 6 months ago, the daughter, Janalee, left her mother, who she had been living with, on very bad terms and would not let any of her family in her life. It was difficult time for the mother who said that she has been praying that somehow she and her daughter could come together again. She says that despite the tragedy she hopes her daughter will come back to the family where she is loved and cherished. Jed also found out that Janalee has no insurance. Our insurance won't cover because the horse didn't come off of our property here. Brian's insurance doesn't cover anything either. (Jed had taken the horses over there when we left for Hawaii) We just hope and pray that through miracles that Janalee will have all the necessary care needed to help her be comfortable once she has healed and that her recovery will be swift. I can't imagine what Janalee is going through because of this horrible accident. We are devastated for her. We are literally physically sick about this situation and the pain this has brought to her. We come to you asking if you will please, please keep Janalee and her family in your prayers and thoughts. This is a long road ahead of her, a very long one. We are hopeful that through faith and prayers, miracles can happen in her behalf.
We love you all! We are grateful for wonderful, supportive and loving family and friends. We are also grateful for our Father in Heaven and His tender mercies despite this trying time. We believe He will not forsake Janalee and her family. We pray that whatever comes our way as a result of this that we will be true and faithful, always recognizing the Lord and His hand in our lives. We are truly very blessed and each of you are a blessing to us.
